Nanoparticles in Homeopathy – Recent Research Shows Hormetic Activation with High Dilutions

In the year 2010 Prof. P.S Chikrammane, Prof. Jayesh Bellare and team published one of the highly acclaimed papers on nano particles[i]The nanoparticulate hypothesis. The work concluded that the nano particles are presented even at dilution more than Avogadro’s limit, which may be one the mode of actions of homeopathic medicine in human beings.

In 2012 the team published “Why Extreme Dilutions Reach Non-zero Asymptotes: A Nanoparticulate Hypothesis Based on Froth Flotation[ii]”, and concluded that all dilutions are apparent and not real in term of the concentrations of the starting raw material.

Further, in 2016, the team published work on establishing the interfacial nano-structure and elemental composition of homeopathic medicines based on inorganic salts[iii] and concluded that Nano-scale species were seen embedded in meso-microporous silicate layer. Using HR-TEM, similar silicate coatings were seen in metal based medicines too. Homeopathic medicines retain starting material as silicate coated nanoparticles. Microscopic evidence explains starting material is present even at high potencies.

Recently (2017), the team published a paper, “Metal nanoparticle induced hormetic activation: a novel mechanism of homeopathic medicines” and put forth a new dimension in the research with nanoparticles and high dilutions [iv]. In this research the research question was whether high dilutions can exhibit a biological response. Metal based homeopathic remedies in ultra high dilution (30ch and 200ch) were anyalysed in in-vitro HepG2 cell line. Cell response was estimated by MTT assay, FACS and total intracellular protein.

The highly diluted homeopathic medicines induced a proliferation-independent hormetic activation by increasing the intracellular protein synthesis.
