Anti-pathogenic activity of Okoubaka

Translational value

Okoubaka is used in treatment and prevention of several gastrointestinal problems. This in-vitro study evaluated the action of Okoubaka mother tincture and 3x on the microbial activity of human colon microbiota and studied the preventive effect against infections with diarrhea-causing pathogens.

Both Okoubaka MT and 3x were able to restrict the colonization of E.coli and Salmonella.

It is proposed that Okoubaka has activating effect on intestinal microbiome resistance, therefore, may have an anti-pathogenic effect, especially against E.Coli, which in turn suggests the systemic regulative effects of Okoubaka.
