Breast cancer incidence and prevalence is on rise, so does its treatment and challenges associated with the treatment. To explore the role of homeopathy in hormone-dependent and independent breast cancer the current study explored the role of different potencies of Hydrastis (Q, 1C, 2C, 30C, 200C).
Cytotoxicity of the breast cancer cells (MCF 7 and MDA-MB-468) was studied in-vitro. There was selective cytotoxic effects of Hydrastis and the maximum cytotoxicity was seen with 1C, leading to cell cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase, which could be the plausible reason for the induction of apoptosis.
This concluded that homeopathy does have selective actions even at such a deeper levels. Such researches need to be replicated in in-vivo models for better and deeper understanding of action of homeopathic medicines.
