Translational value

Syzygium jambolanum has found a respectable place both in clinical practice as well as research due to presence of various active phytochemicals and their utility in wide variety of conditions.

The present study investigated the anti-glycation molecular mechanism (responsible for many complications in diabetes mellitus) of Syzygium mother tincture (MT), 30C, and 200C on glycated human serum albumin (HSA) by multi-spectroscopic and microscopic approaches.

The results showed that Syzygium inhibited the glycation process, which corroborates with its usage in clinical practice for both symptomatic management as well as to prevent the complications. Further research is warranted to establish the clinical utility and molecular mechanisms.
