Translational value
Escherichia coli is a normally found gut bacterium that may become an active infection in presence of risk factors and lower immunity. Its treatment and prevention depends on various factors.
In the present study the authors evaluated the prophylactic role of a homeopathic formulation (consisting of Echinacea angustifolia (6CH), Pyrogenium (6CH), Carbo vegetabilis (30CH) and Phosphorus (30CH)) in E.coli infection in experimental mice model. The formulation was diluted and given in water (daily dose) for upto 54 days. It was compared with suitable control groups. Blood, liver, spleen, intestine, and feces samples were collected from the final portion of the intestine of the mice.
The overall data (e.g. neutrophils, immunoglobulin IgG and IgM etc.) suggested that the homeopathic agent in the drinking water improved health of the mice.
