Cinchona – The anti-viral Remedy
The objective of this study was to test the antiviral potential of different homeopathic formulations of Cinchona officinalis. Molecular composition analysis was carried out, keeping remdesivir as positive control for in-vitro analysis. The molecular binding potential for Cinchona mother tincture (MT) to various targets of SARS-CoV-2 virus was promising. In vitro assays showed that Cinchona MT was not cytotoxic, and it could cause 89% inhibition (remdesivir 99%) of SARS-CoV-2 infection in VeroE6 cells. Based on this in silico and in vitro evidence, the authors concluded Cinchona MT as a promising antiviral medicine for treating COVID-19.
